Phippen '08 Turned Out Great!

The Phippen Museum put on a great show and it proved to be a successful one for me! I met some truly great artists and many wonderful people. We ended up selling eleven paintings and I even survived the quickdraw event! I say "we" because none of this would have been possible without the help of my family and friends. I'll post more details and photos when I get the time, but now I need to do some painting and meet some show deadlines.

Top: It rained some on the first day, but the booth looked good and it held up fine.
Middle: About mid way throught the quickdraw.
Bottom: The painting from 45 minute quickdraw ("Final Light" 16x16 o/p).

New work and upcoming Phippen Art Show and Sale

Sentinals of Siphon Draw 30x40 o/p This is a painting of the entrance to Siphon Draw in the Superstition Mountains east of Phoenix. I think it is one of the most beautiful canyons in the Supes.

This is also a reminder that I will participating in the Phippen Art Show and Sale this coming Memorial Day weekend, Fri-Mon, May 24-26. I will be in booth #71 near the corner of Gurley and Montezuma. I will have 20 or so paintings at this show. (Thanks Joe Robertson for the canopy loan! And to all my friends and family who have helped make this show possible!)

I will also be competing in my first quickdraw event on Sunday, 2-4pm at the north courthouse steps. From the Phippen Museum website, "One of the most exciting events at the Annual Phippen Museum Western Art Show and Sale is the Quick Draw held on Saturday and Sunday beginning at 2:00 pm. This fast-paced event is a 45-minute, timed demonstration by 15 to 20 artists creating a piece of art in front of the public starting with a completely blank canvas. The pieces are then auctioned to the audience. The auction will begin at approximately 3 PM."

Hope I see you there!

I will be one of the featured artists along with Melanie Banayat - Contemporary figurative oil painter and Lisa Kaiser - Mixed media artist. Music performed by Dino Palazzi. Refreshments served.
