It's been a while since my last post, mostly because I have been deep into a major reorganization of my studio and storage areas for all my art and outdoor activities. This has been sort of a Christmas present to myself, but, like most home projects, it ended up being a lot harder to accomplish than I thought. I won't go into too much detail, but this involved digging a ton or so of dirt and rocks out from the crawl space under our house, building a retaining wall, building shelves, laying carpet and suffering the physical consequences of all that work. One of the drawbacks of this (besides a sore back) has been that I have had precious little time for painting. Now that it's done I have a much less crowded studio and the time to actually use it.
I did save some time for art. The ACE Art Group show at the Wild Iris Coffeehouse mentioned in the previous post went very well and we are already planning a spring show there for next year. Also, I recently joined the Sedona Art Center and entered their Holiday Miniatures Exhibit and Silent Auction. The show opening and auction was a fun event and the two 5x7's I entered sold! I look forward to doing more events with them in the future. The Grand Canyon scene at top was one of the entries. The other painting is a wintertime plein air I did at the Canyon. I'm including it here as seasonal decor and to remind myself to get up there to paint as soon as they get a lot of snow. (Update: As of today the south rim roads are closed due to snow! I know where I'm going...)
Have a Wonderful Holiday Season and a New Year full of Happiness, Peace and Prosperity!
