When Michelle and I arrived at the opening reception for the Sedona Arts Center Juried Members Exhibit last Friday I noticed a little gold titled plate next to my Sierra painting titled View from the Pass (see previous post and here). It won first place in oils! A nice honored to be singled out in a show full of great art. A few glasses of wine later at the award ceremony I find out the painting has won the best of show award! Thanks to all the great employees and voluteers at the Sedona Arts Center! The show runs to March 29th.
The landscape paintings I create are an expression of my lifelong enjoyment of nature. When I'm not painting I'm usually out rock climbing or trail running. These trips often result in new ideas and refrences for future works. I enjoy plein air painting, but believe that time in the studio is equally important. This is in addition to my favorite job as a "stay-at-home" dad. This blog will focus on the art with references to the outdoor and family experiences to which it is intimately tied.

So well deserved, that was a particularly good example from your very high class recent output. I'm delighted.
Good job, Bill! Sorry I didn't make the opening - would have liked to have seen your face when you saw the plaque!
Thanks Mick and Michael! Michael, I probably had a little "deer-in-the-headlights" look when I found out. Good to see you dyring the paintout recently - you going to the canyon soon?
