I'll be heading out to the Plein Air at the Grand Canyon this Friday. It's been one long rainy summer in central AZ and I look forward to getting out for week of painting with the usual suspects (and some new ones) at the Canyon. The event is part of the Grand Canyon Celebration of Art with the proceeds supporting the goal of funding a permanent art venue on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park.
The paintings shown here are going to be part of the National Parks of the West exhibition at the Phippen Western Heritage Museum in Prescott, AZ. "The nation’s westward expansion of the national parks is explored through the majestic landscapes and animals in their native habitat in the National Parks of the West exhibit. The exhibit depicts the grandeur of the parks through the eyes of some of the world’s leading artists, including Thomas Moran, Gunnar Windforss, Ray Swanson, Russell Case, Edward Aldrich, Bill Anton and many more." (I'm one of the "mores". They're all available, but you won't be able to get 'em until the show ends in Feb.)
There's a couple of shows in between, but I'll post up on those when I get back from the canyon.
